Thomas F. Spruck of Painted
Post died June 2nd, 2015 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. He was
born March 22nd, 1946 to Thomas and Madalene Spruck.
He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and College of Sante
Fe. He married Marilyn Crooker of Caton on December 27th, 1969
at St. Patrick's Church. He served his country in the US
Army from 1969-72, including a tour in Vietnam in 1970 as a
Forward Observer with 1/83 Field Artillery and as an aviator
with 220 Reconnaissance Airplane Company. He worked for the Boy
Scouts for 14 years and as a topographer for Etak before
retiring in 2000. He was proud of having been on the Site and
Design Selection Committee for the Suffolk County Vietnam
Veterans Memorial. He loved reading, watching movies, Yankees
games and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Sean of Painted Post
and Ryan (Jane Rumrill) of Salem, MA; sister, Kim (Bob) Fristoe
of Ponca City, OK; granddaughter, Kaelyn Spindler; and several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and his daughter, Shannon in
1996.
Private services will be held at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Corning Meals on
Wheels or the Wounded Warrior Project.
