In Memoriam

Alex Athans

1/83d Artillery
1966-1967

Rest in Peace
Lest We Forget

Alex and his wife Pat

Alexander Constantine Athans, proud Vietnam veteran passed away January 14, 2025 after a long battle with several health issues.

Alex was a wonderful man in many ways. The work that Alex and Pat did to support Pancreatic Cancer research in memory of his late Daughter Christina was admirable. He was a kind and dedicated man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Alex was truly one of the 1/83
rd Originals. He was the first non-lifer enlisted man to be assigned to B Battery in 1966.  He was also one of the advance party to go to Oakland Army Terminal to board the ship (Edwin D. Patrick) on which the 1/83rd sailed to Vietnam.

A Bio of Alex can be read at this link.

A story of Alex and Pat's efforts for Pancreatic Cancer Research in honor of their Daughter Christina can be read at this link.

Lest We Forget.
